Abdulkadir Şaşmaz'ın oğlu olan Necati Şaşmaz 1971'de Elazığ'da doğdu. Asıl mesleği turizmcilik olan Şaşmaz, eğitimini Kanada'da tamamladı. Amerika'da 6 sene kalan Şaşmaz, 2001 yılında bir süreliğine ailesini ziyarete geldiği sırada geri dönüş uçak biletini 11 Eylül 2001 tarihine aldı. Amerikada yaşanan saldırılar sebebiyle uçağı Amerika'ya varamadan geri dönen Şaşmaz, sonradan ailesinin çekincesi...
